A new railway tunnel is in the talks and it could cut 22 minutes off your trip from Wollongong to Sydney.
The ABC are reporting that they have seen confidential documents which show a plan prepared for the New South Wales Government.
The plan allegedly shows the popular commute being cut from about an hour and a half, to 66 minutes.
It is estimated that a massive 20,000 people commute from Wollongong to Sydney daily… with the new tunnel up and running, it will be a big difference for daily travellers.
The proposed rail tunnel will be located from Thirroul to Waterfall.
The overall cost is estimated at around $3.6 billion.
A Transport for NSW spokesman said the Government is always working on new ways to improve the state's transport options, saying, "We recognise the need for transport links between capital cities and other major cities for access to services and opportunities like business, specialist healthcare and international airports. Over the next 20 to 40 years we need to ensure our cities and towns are better places to live, work and visit."
The Government blueprint estimated the tunnel could be completed by 2031.
