Plan To Make Playgrounds Accessible To Kids Of All Abilities

New standards are set to be introduced in NSW playgrounds, with a change underway to ensure accessibility for all children.

The new design guidelines will see parks and playgrounds under audit as part of a five-year plan to re-fit them in order to be available to children of all abilities.

"There are more than 1.3 million people in NSW who live with a disability or added needs," Planning Minister Anthony Roberts said in a statement on Wednesday.

"It is imperative that our open spaces and playgrounds are able to be enjoyed by every citizen regardless of their level of ability."

It is understood that all councils will receive funding to retro-fit current play equipment in the coming years.
